University Medical Campus Hamburg is a joint venture between University Targu Mires of Romania and a German company. It provides education in general medicine in the English language. Students can opt to study the full six years in Germany, including practical experience at some of Germany's leading teaching hospitals or they can opt to complete their training in Romania.

As in many countries, finding a place to study medicine in Germany can be extremely difficult and it is quite common for students to have to wait years before they are able to start their studies.

The study program at UMCH was conceived in accordance with the values and the experience of a prestigious and traditional university that has stood for excellence in research and teaching for so many years. The campus offers an innovative educational concept in an attractive location that is conceived in accordance with the latest state of the art in science. The campus in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld is over 4,000 m² in size and has an excellent teaching and learning infrastructure, like a virtual 3D anatomy and dissection table as well as high-tech lecture halls, seminar rooms and laboratories.

The aim of UMCH is to train competent doctors. Its graduates should be able to meet the requirements arising from new scientific findings and the needs of a constantly changing society – a patient-oriented system of values at the highest level.
