Biological Systems - Biomedical Engineering

  • Subject: Engineering, Biology
  • Level: Undergraduate
  • Type of Degree:
  • Cost: EUR 7,200

During the Bachelor in Technological Innovation and Management, students explore the different facets of the related professions.

While theory remains a solid part of the teaching, the main objective is to develop practical skills, in the form of projects and group work, applied to the different majors, while acquiring a truly international perspective.

Biological Systems / Biomedical Engineering trains engineers who master biotechnologies with specialisations in the areas of medical imaging, biomaterials and bio systems. These majors are often offered in third and fourth year of a bachelor’s degree and continue at master level. Employment opportunities are in medicine and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, the food industry, bioenergy and biofuels. This is certainly one of the most demanding engineering programmes. The first two years are devoted to acquiring the scientific knowledge necessary for this discipline, that is: basic mechanics, biology and chemistry. After the first two years the student chooses between Biological Systems (agro-food industry bio-energies, biofuels) and Biomedical Engineering (prostheses, artificial hearts, medical imaging etc.).
