The Bachelor of Engineering in Network and Software Engineering is a comprehensive four-year degree designed to meet the criteria for accreditation as a professional engineer with Engineers Australia (EA). The course provides professional education in core areas of network and software engineering and concentrates on the development of analysis, network design, network security, programming skills, communication theory, and wireless communications and on the societal and business context of network and software systems.

In their last two years, students acquire in-depth knowledge of network communications and software engineering as well as a broad coverage of specialist technical subjects such as: network operating systems, ubiquitous computing, real-time control, wireless communications, network and computer security, web design and programming, large scale software systems, embedded systems and RFID technology. It is designed to enable students to commence tailoring the course to suit their own needs after their second year. The course is completed with an industry-oriented engineering project.
